As the Holidays Come to an End
As the holiday season continues, I find that its taste has become bitter sweet. Although everyone knows I love the holidays, I can't help but think of all of the current devastation going on in the world. As the snow comes down in many states, ash rains in California and I ask my self questions like: How will the families who lost their homes due to fire enjoy this holiday? How will the refugees who are still displaced enjoy the season? What about the innocent men and women being sold into slavery in other parts of the world? I think about the many homeless who line the streets of our communities, and not to mention the children who will not receive any presents this year? I find myself saying a prayer.
The holiday season is really about giving. When those shepherds came upon that little baby in the manger they gave gifts but got nothing in return because they were overjoyed that a savior was born. That savior still lives and still saves lives.
Please remember to give your prayers to those who are less fortunate than you. Prayer is free and reaches to the highest mountain and can flow to the deepest ocean. Someone you know may be having a hard time this holiday season and your prayers, like butterflies, can surround them with peace.
