Butterfly Inspiration

The most awe inspiring trip I've ever taken to see butterflies was a trip to the butterfly sanctuary, located in Pacific Grove,California. The scenery on the way up from Los Angeles was breathtaking. I could not keep my eyes on the road for taking in the landscape. I distinctly remember a tree in the middle of the highway that was filled with purplish flowers that seemed to glow in the dusk. Imagine an ocean as a back drop as you pass meadows of lush green, pink and purple foliage canvased by rock and ocean splash.

When we arrived at the sanctuary it was dark, we found our accommodations to be quite cozy. I was reminded of a cabin in the Pocono's. The next morning I was flabbergasted at the sheer number of monarch butterflies that gathered on the grounds of this sanctuary.

Like clusters of grapes on a tightly packed vine the butterflies clung to branches of the trees that canopied the grounds. They were dripping from their self made hives in colors that echoed hues of iridescent and gold. Every branch of every tree seemed to touch the sky. We walked throughout the sanctuary, we sat on the benches provided and we lay on the ground taking in the beauty around us. One cannot adequately describe its beauty.
